| Traditional, yet progressive Ancient, yet modern Reverent, yet energizing
Worship at 9 a.m. at Trinity honors the rich heritage and deep roots we have as Lutherans. For hundreds of years those roots have shaped our worship, and ultimately, our lives. Each week, as we plan worship and music, we search for God in “what is old and what is new.”
We follow a pattern or liturgy that has been developed over 2000 years: Gather, Word, Meal, Sending. It is as simple as that – we are gathered around the word and the meal. We are sent into the world to make a difference. What makes worship traditional is the garb that is hung on it: the style of music, choirs, organ, instruments, assisting ministers, processions, robes, etc.
At 9 a.m. worship at Trinity, we see and hear all those elements. Old and new music, choirs and guest musicians, organ and other musical instruments, a multitude of lay leadership, processionals and leaders in robes. But the essential for this love-fest is the gathered assembly, and that is you, with God at the center.
We believe in our increasingly secular world, the church needs to be more than just a historical witness to the faith. We are the church, right here in Stillwater, and we must act as contemporary witnesses to the gospel, bringing its reforming power into the world using the riches of our past, present and the future.
In worship we must take into account what is happening in the church, the world and our community. Trinity's traditional worship offers the comforting familiar and the challenging new; a diet rich in all that the church has to offer us as spiritual food. Join us at 9 a.m.!
